About the Creative Writer Assistant Internship Role

Role Type: Full time, 6-month internship

Start Date: 5 September 2022

Location: Nairobi, Kenya – hybrid

Reports to: Digital Marketing Lead and Chief of Innovation and Research

The Opportunity

We are looking for a recent graduate who is able to adapt their writing style of two very different departments, i.e. marketing and research. The successful candidate will be provided training and mentorship throughout the internship, and will be able to gain a unique skillset combination of creative writing and business-economic reporting and editing.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communication or marketing
  • Exceptional skill in social-media writing, including use of hashtags and relevant acronyms
  • Understanding of the requirements for producing copy intended for print and digital media channels, as well as advertising and marketing campaigns
  • Knowledge of social media marketing and keyword search
  • Well-read in business and economics topics
  • Proficiency with common office software
  • Less than 1 year of work experience

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the research team with business and economic writing, e.g. write interviews, snippets, etc. from recordings, or write economic articles based on initial research provided by the research assistant, supplemented by own research.
  • Assist the research team with editing of business and economic writing, including identifying areas for fact checking.
  • Assist the marketing team in the creation of website, social media and blog copy.
  • Assist the marketing team with proof-reading and editing of creative copy.
  • Deliver well-written reports.
  • Pursue self-initiated projects, beneficial to the company.
