About the Senior Software Engineer Role
The software engineer is responsible for developing and designing front end web architecture, ensuring the responsiveness of applications, and working alongside graphic designers for system design features, among other duties. He will also see out a project from conception to final product, requiring good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Location: Nairobi, Kenya – hybrid
Department: Product & Technology
Reports to: Head of Engineering
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum 4-6 years of business experience as a Senior Software engineer.
Successful Skills and Traits
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux based environments
- Solid Cloud experience, preferably in AWS
- Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box, Docker)
- Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g.,Tomcat, Apache, NGINX)
- Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular JS, React, and Amber.
- Proficiency with server-side languages such as Python, Java, PHP(Laravel, Yii) , and .Net.
- Experience with database technology such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail.

- Developing front end website architecture.

- Developing back-end system applications.
- Creating servers and databases for functionality.
- Ensuring cross-platform optimization for mobile phones.

- Meeting both technical and consumer needs.
