About the Junior Designer Internship Role

Role Type: Full time, 6-month internship

Start Date: 5 September 2022

Location: Nairobi, Kenya – hybrid

Reports to: primarily to the Creative Design Director and secondary to the Chief Innovation and Research Officer (CINRO)


  • Bachelor degree or a similar qualification in a relevant field
  • Less than 1 year of work experience
  • Excellent proficiency in Business English – both written and spoken
  • Good working knowledge of software such as Figma (this is a big plus), Adobe design software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, Canva, and other creative tools.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Developing concepts, graphics and layouts, including making decisions about fonts, images, readability and readers’ needs.
  • Determining size and arrangement of copy and illustrative material, as well as font style and size.
  • Preparing rough drafts of material based on an agreed brief.
  • Keeping stakeholders up to date, listening to and acting on feedback, and explaining the rationale behind graphic design decisions.
  • Keeping up to date with design and software trends.
